Personal Code of Conduct

As a professional parent coach, I am committed to maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards. My practice is built on trust, respect, and integrity. The following principles guide my interactions with parents, schools, and other stakeholders:

1. Professionalism & Integrity

· Conduct all interactions with honesty, fairness, and transparency.

· Maintain clear professional boundaries and avoid conflicts of interest.

· Provide accurate and evidence-based guidance without personal bias.

2. Confidentiality & Privacy

· Treat all personal information shared by parents with the utmost confidentiality.

· Only share information with third parties (e.g., schools) with explicit consent, unless required by law or safeguarding concerns.

· Adhere to data protection guidelines to ensure sensitive information is handled responsibly.

3. Respect & Non-Judgmental Approach

· Respect the values, backgrounds, and parenting styles of all clients.

· Provide a safe and inclusive environment where parents feel heard and supported.

· Remain open-minded and approach coaching without judgment or personal opinions.

4. Safeguarding & Well-Being

· Prioritize the well-being and safety of children and families.

· Report any safeguarding concerns to the appropriate authorities in accordance with legal and ethical obligations.

· Maintain appropriate professional boundaries in all interactions.

5. Accountability & Continuous Improvement

· Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance coaching skills.

· Reflect on feedback and implement improvements where necessary.

· Operate within a transparent framework where concerns and complaints are handled fairly.

6. Meeting Format & Accountability

Holding meetings via Teams or in-school (rather than on a personal device) ensures accountability in several key ways:

1. Record & Oversight: Many schools have policies that allow for Teams meetings to be recorded (with consent) or monitored, providing a transparent record of interactions. In-school meetings also take place in a professional environment where other staff members may be present or aware of the meeting.

2. Professional Boundaries: Using a school-approved platform or location ensures that all interactions remain professional and within the school’s safeguarding framework, reducing risks associated with informal or private conversations.

3. Safeguarding & Complaints Protection: If an issue arises, the fact that meetings took place in a monitored setting (rather than privately on a personal device) helps to establish a clear record of what was discussed, minimizing the risk of misinterpretation or false accusations.

4. Data Security & Confidentiality: School-approved platforms like Teams offer secure communication channels, ensuring sensitive discussions remain confidential and protected.

Complaints Policy

Handling complaints professionally and transparently is key to maintaining trust with parents and schools. This policy outlines the process for addressing concerns:

1. Acknowledge the Complaint

· Respond promptly and professionally.

· Thank the person for bringing the concern to your attention.

· Confirm that the complaint will be reviewed and taken seriously.

2. Gather Information

Ask the complainant for specific details (what happened, when, any supporting evidence).

Keep records of all communications.

3. Assess & Investigate

Review session notes or any relevant communication.

If the complaint involves school collaboration, consult with the school for their perspective (if appropriate).

Maintain neutrality and professionalism.

4. Respond with a Resolution

· If the complaint is valid, outline the steps to improve (e.g., adjusting processes, apologizing if necessary).

· If the complaint is unfounded, provide a clear, factual explanation of your position.

· If necessary, offer mediation (especially if the complaint involves a misunderstanding).

5. Follow-Up & Document

· Keep a record of the complaint and resolution.

· Check in with the complainant later (if appropriate) to confirm their concerns were addressed.

This Personal Code of Conduct & Complaints Policy ensures that my coaching practice remains professional, ethical, and accountable. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
